Trying on a princess style dress at Vera Wang
Hello and welcome to Grazia Daily's new Fash Bride blog! The bridal baton has been passed on to me, Lauren Murdoch-Smith, aka: Grazia Beauty Editor and bride in just 151 days and 3635 hours. Gulp. I admit I’ve wanted to get married ever since I met my ‘Beyonce’ Ben many moons ago. When he drunkenly and unromantically slurred the question on New Year ’s Eve 2010, first I asked if he meant it, then said yes and finally, shed a tear. The tear was for excitement about our future together, of course, but was also a huge dollop of anxiety.
There have already been some ups, downs and wobbly moments in our 14-month-long engagement and with a fiancé not interested in the finer details (like the err, day itself), there’s been a LOT of organising on my part for our big day (on 4th August 2012, FYI). I won’t lie to you, it’s not been this 'most enjoyable time' that brides talk about. I might even be referred to as an anti-bride. Yup, I said it and I’m not ashamed!
Moodboard for the big day.
There have been two dresses, a ring made in New York, a venue change and hour-long discussions on the position of the cake, but finally it’s time to start the ‘me’ prep. This includes trialling the latest bridal spa packages, getting into shape for THE dress and undertaking some more unglamorous and (possibly painful) treatments just so I can look and feel my best when I walk down the red carpet aisle.
So, are you with me? I promise to take you through all my thoughts, feelings and photos in the lead up to the big day in Buckinghamshire and hopefully help some other brides along the way.
Here comes the bride...
