After months of speculation as to who is designing Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, one time front runner, Bruce Oldfield, has removed himself from the race.
Speaking to WWD yesterday, Bruce said ‘It has been such a subject of rumour and speculation over the past months, but I am not designing it… We will all know [tomorrow] — and I thought I’d duck out of the ‘possibles list’ to give everyone 24 hours to place their final bets!’
Bruce was, of course, the odds-on favourite to design the dress at one point, to the extent that in December bookies temporarily suspended betting. Though he won‘t be designing The Dress, however, it’s still likely that Oldfield is involved in the wedding some way, with Sophie the Countess of Wessex, believed to be wearing one of his designs, and Carole and Pippa Middleton being spotted outside his store earlier this year. For that involvement, however, we will have to wait until tomorrow….
