Royal Wedding: Bets Are On Again!

12 April 2011

KATE MIDDLETON PRINCE WILLIAM

Screw the Grand National! According to Paddy Power the royal wedding is shaping up to be the biggest bet-fest since, erm, the 2005 Papal election. Which we're guessing is a more exciting comparison than it sounds.

The odds are now stacked higher than Princess Anne’s hair towards Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton, due in no small part to the hysterical excitement emitted from Grazia Daily Towers following the possible leak that Burton was the designer. In spite of being denied by McQueen, it seems that SOMEthing about this rumour has stuck, with the odds for Burton now resting at 25/1, meaning that if you put £25 on you’ll get £26 back. Hardly worth going to the bookies, is it?

Though betting was temporarily suspended in January after a flurry of bets placed on Bruce Oldfield prompted Paddy Power to preemptively call Brucie as the winner, betting has since resumed and the odds now stand as thus: 1/25 for Sarah Burton, 4/1 for Bruce Oldfield and 10/1 for ANYONE else.
