*UPDATE* “William and Kate: The Movie will be released on DVD on the 25th April courtesy of Revolver Entertainment”
This. Looks. AMAZING.
There is little Grazia Daily loves more than a hastily put together made-for-TV biopic, so it will come as not-much of a surprise to learn that we are BESIDE ourselves about the forthcoming film of Kate Middleton and Prince William's courtship by the Lifetime channel called…. William & Kate.
Well, in order to whet our already moist palette, Lifetime has released this spoiler clip from the flick, which charts William and Kate's relationship from their early days at St Andrews right through to their engagement. Flashbulbs! Celebrity turbans! Terible accents! This movie looks to be camper than an episode of Sunset Beach (look it up). Click below for yourself and see what you think. Our favourite bit? Kate drinking wine and crying in the bath. As if we needed to tell you that.
And as if wearing a turban and drinking wine in the bath wasn’t proof enough for you that Kate is just an ORDINARY girl like you, or Bridget Jones, or Katie Price, then this nugget of genius must be. It has just emerged that Kate is planning to arrive at her wedding in a Rolls Royce, in order, according to brilliant NY mag fashion blog The Cut, ‘to downplay the Princess-ness of it’. Rrright. The Rolls Royce Phantom V that has been chosen to transport Kate to the ceremony is the self same car that Camilla was poked with a stick in, during the student protests last November. So Kate, if you’re reading, just remember to close the windows, yah?
It has also just emerged that the entire wedding will be made available to download within, like, ten seconds of the happy couple tying the knot. Record label Decca are planning on releasing the occasion in itunes, with classical producer Anna Barry saying ‘this is a great honour and an enormous responsibility. The wedding means so much to millions of people all over the world - we have to capture every note and every nuance perfectly and have the recording ready within minutes of the end of the ceremony’. Technology, eh?
What else have we learned this week: Well, William has been dropping hints about the Royal Honeymoon. Now - a quick history lesson for you. Traditionally, Royals have a tradition of going on pretty 'low-key' honeymoons – Diana and Charles went on a cruise which included some official visits (work?) and then met the Queen and Prince Philip in Scotland. Ace. For their own honeymoon, in 1947, the Queen and Prince Pip spent a lovely two weeks in Hampshire. Big whoop, but we suppose there had just been a war.
HOWEVER, lovely William has been visiting the areas devastated by Hurricane Yasi in Australia, and told locals ‘I love scuba diving. I have always wanted to dive the [Great] Barrier Reef…. I will have to come back – maybe we'll have a honeymoon in Cairns’. Ooooh… Do it! Do it! We are so jealous.
And finally, you MAY have seen this already, but we think it deserves as many mentions as we can give it: last week, a company called Guandong Enterprises released this charming commemorative mug, featuring the excited faces of bride-to-be Kate Middleton and her, um, future brother-in-law. *confused face*. Speculation is rife as to whether this is a spoof or not, but regardless of whether it's a hideous error or a deliberate marketing ploy, one thing is certain: we totally want one.
