From day one of her pregnancy, Kate has refused to stick to the royal rule book. Not only will she be departing from protocol by living at her mother, Carole, and father Michael’s £4.85m Berkshire home in the weeks following the birth (she’s reportedly due on 3rd July), but she’s apparently also having a baby shower courtesy of her sister Pippa, 29.
No other member of the royal family has ever had one, as it’s a practice that has only recently crossed the pond to the UK from the United States. But with baby-shower merchandise readily available on the Middletons’ Party Pieces website and Pippa being the most famous party planner on the planet, it is perhaps only natural that they would throw an event.
‘Pippa is really excited about the shower, and so is Kate,’ a source has been quoted as saying. ‘It will be really intimate at her family home with a handful of female friends and family.’ It is also thought that Kate’s brother James, who owns a cakemaking business, will supply baby-themed cupcakes. His girlfriend, the actress Donna Air, has reportedly been invited.
Apparently, Pippa has asked guests to bring along baby pictures of themselves for a game where they have to guess who fi ts the face. ‘Pippa is using all of her party-planning experience to make sure Kate has the best do,’ added the source. ‘She’s also got William to help her compile a list of “Baby Mastermind” questions and answers, to quiz Kate on what she thinks he would do in each baby-related situation. It’ll be very laid-back but fun.’
