Last night, the world saw a history changing event – the arrival of the Royal Baby. Yes, Kate Middleton has given birth to her first child with Prince William - a son and third in line to the throne - and in the new issue of Grazia we report on this newborn that's set to rip up the royal rule book.
Baby Cambridge is already being dubbed the ‘billion-pound baby’ as the child is set to inherit a colossal sum based on the wealth of its immediate family. Furthermore, the Centre for Retail Research believe the goodwill surrounding the birth will boost the UK economy by £240 million thanks to merchandising and celebrations to ‘wet the baby’s head’.
But apart from being the first child of the future King of England, the historical implications go much deeper for Baby Cambridge. In April, a bill that ended succession to the throne based on gender became law. At the time, Kate was just five months pregnant, but it meant that her first child with William would become monarch regardless of its sex. Add this to the fact that Kate is the first commoner to marry a prince in close proximity to the throne in more than 350 years and you can see why the little tot is already a rule breaker.
