Designer wedding dresses

All eyes were on the bride during these two high profile nuptials. When Spice Girl Victoria Addams married footballer David Beckham in 1999 she wore Vera Wang. Kate Middleton wed Prince William in Alexander McQueen in 2011.

Every time Kate leaves the house her outfits are scrutinised by the world's press - something she has in common with VB, who runs her own fashion empire.

Tiaras

The Duchess wore the Cartier “halo” tiara on her wedding day, which was loaned to her by the Queen. Victoria's crown was designed by Slim Barrett and crafted from 18-carat latticed yellow gold. It failed to sell at a [a href="/fashion/news/victoria-beckhams-wedding-tiara-going-on-sale">recent Bonham's auction[/a] in London, despite being expected to fetch waaaay above the £18,000-£25,000 estimated price - GASP!

Charity work

Victoria and David recently had a wardrobe clear out to raise money for the British Red Cross ‘Shop Drop for Philippines'. The royal couple spend a great deal of their public life working for charitable causes.

Tennis fans

Kate and her sister Pippa are serious tennis supporters, but Victoria surprised us all by showing up to the Wimbledon final last year in a barely there lace dress. Every occasion is a catwalk!

Are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the same league as celebrities? One commentator thinks so. The high ranking members of the royal family who welcomed their first child last year, have been branded as the same as David and Victoria Beckham by Christopher Lee, the award-winning writer behind Radio 4 British history programme This Sceptred Isle.

Lee told the Daily Mail, "I don't think they rate with the Beckhams, but I put them in that slot". He also argued that the royal couple don't have the 'gravitas' to be anything other than celebrity personalities, but what's his evidence for the statement? Apparently Kate and William's lowly "celebrity" title is as a result of their seemingly "normal" behaviour. Lee continued, "They love bending down and talking to kids and doing ordinary things. They are ordinary, but they are celebrities rather than old fashioned 'don't ask questions, don't touch me' royalty."

We've previously revealed how Kate is just like us, as she performs everyday tasks like travelling on the underground and listening to her iPod as part of her royal duties. While this article was purely tongue in cheek, we can't really imagine Victoria Beckham getting on the tube to work in the morning, so perhaps in some respects the Duke and Duchess are even more down to earth than the King and Queen of Beckingham Palace.

After all, Victoria and David did sit on thrones on their wedding day!
