Sundays aren’t all about mooching around on the sofa watching hangover TV and tweeting misspelt bon mots about your big night out. Not for Team Grazia, anyhow. We hit the sunny streets of Whipsnade for Cycletta South: the 40k ride that’s made all our training worthwhile.
It was inspiring to see so many fast women whizzing through the course; powering up hills with big smiles like, ‘yes! Hills are the new black!’, and shouting out encouragement to each other. Congratulations to you all!
Grazia’s BFF Victoria Pendleton led the way (well, she is the Olympic gold medallist) and Pedalling In Heels was grateful to be rescued by her chat, because we were a little too out of breath to construct sentences. Victoria’s geared up for next year’s Games, which explains why she she’s so supertoned. And she’s getting married too, but isn’t even thinking about wedmin until after the Olympics when she’s got five minutes to spare outside the velodrome. The only bit of wedding prep she’s done is her skin: it’s all about Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Serum, apparently, then the bike finishes off the glow.
Cycletta gave us a real sense of achievement and it was great to pedal in a pack with so many other strong women. We’re totally inspired to keep pedalling – what about you?
You can still enter Cycletta North on 2nd October at Tatton Park, Cheshire. Register at www.cycletta.com
