Oscars 2013: When We Partied With Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence And Elton John!

28 February 2013 by

There really is nowhere quite like Tinseltown during Oscars weekend. It’s like a national holiday of fabulousness for the city of Angels. The atmosphere is spine-tinglingly excitingly amazing. And this year it was super sunny too! Cardboard cut-out Oscars statues line Sunset Boulevard and the stars themselves are literally everywhere you turn. On the day before the Oscar Awards, just getting a coffee from the nearest Coffee Bean meant bumping in to Anette Benning and her daughter waiting in line in front of me, while popping to Fred Segal for a spot of shopping, I saw Michael Patrick King and then at lunch at Joan’s on Third street Sharon Stone was sitting next to me. Literally everyone, everywhere is famous AND on fabulous form.

The night before is often more raucous than actual Oscars night. One year I was at Harvey Weinstein’s party at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood and in the very same room as – wait for it – Beyonce and Jay-Z, Jennifer Aniston, Leonardo Di Caprio, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Elton John and a few others too.

This year’s Saturday night bash at Soho House West Hollywood was every bit as star-studded and I witnessed some amazing scenes between Leonardo Di Caprio, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Oh yes. But you’re gonna have to wait to read all about it in next week’s Grazia I’m afraid. Jen Lawrence is awesome by the way, with a very filthy sense of humour. And Leonardo Di Caprio smells REALLY good. He also loves Bourbon and was ordering round after round. Ooh and Zoe Kravitz educated Bradley Cooper on the merits of electronic cigarette.

I caught up with my old mate Piers Morgan and the conversation suddenly became all serious. Piers has been very public in his campaign to change US gun controls and I witnessed Jamie Foxx approach him and say how he wanted to appear on his CNN show to talk about it. Chatting later on Piers also made us hoot when he said he still wanted more kids: ‘I’ve told Celia (Walden, Mrs Piers) that if Pablo Picasso was still popping them out at 85, then so can I!” Good luck Celia. Quentin Tarantino is always fascinating to watch at parties as he always seems to look like he still can’t believe he is who he is. The Oscar winning legend of a director bounced around Soho House’s beautiful roof-top restaurant greeting everyone and at one point asked me if I’d seen Harvey. Jen Lawrence called it a night shortly before 2am and so did I.

Having had my hair done by the actual same people who did Jennifer Lawrence’s – the amazingly talented Rossano Ferretti in Beverly Hills – it was time for the biggest night of partying on the planet. I was lucky enough to have an invite to Sir Elton John’s AIDS foundation Oscar party and golly gosh was it star-studded. From Chris Brown to Naomi Campbell, Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears, Bono to erm Jim Carey wearing giant feet and angel wings, it really was quite the ticket. I spent a long time chatting to Rihanna’s boyfriend Chris Brown (again, read all about it in next week’s Grazia) who during one conversation spent the whole time rubbing my back, while we were in the queue for the porter loos! Over a Grey Goose Le Fizz cocktail Chris told me how Elton John has taken him under his wing and been really supportive of late. Gordon Ramsay was on the charm offensive, complementing me on my gorgeous couture frock and imploring me to tell everyone that he has NOT moved to Hollywood. ‘I don’t know why the press keep saying I’ve moved to LA! I haven’t. We’re still living in London. I’ve just been working out here loads.’ Gordon was responsible for the five course dinner and I have to say it was, as you would expect, quite superb. Especially the beef. Not sure about the cheese course though Gordon, must try harder next time. (Told him as much too!)

Kelly Osbourne and Miley Cyrus were inseparable for much of the night and I have to admit Miley was in very odd mood. I chatted to her a couple of times, but she seemed distracted and not in a very good mood. Might have had something to do with reports that surfaced two days later that her fiancée Liam Hemsworth had left a party on Saturday night in the company of January Jones. One thing she was very happy about however was her crazy new haircut. ‘It’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life,’ she told me. ‘Every day I am happy I did it and it’s given me a whole new level of confidence.’ (Not sure you needed it love, but jolly good anyway.) Kim Kardashian looked a little bit uncomfortable in her frock and later told a friend that she was regretting her wardrobe choice as she didn’t think it flattered her pregnant frame. She still looked pretty stunning to me. Quincy Jones was there which was amazing. Naomi Campbell looked stunning as ever, but had to leave early, blowing me kisses across the red carpet. Steve Tyler helped out with the auction which raised over £6million for Elton’s AIDS Foundation in just half an hour. Then Emile Sande sung and mesmerised the whole audience (she was also hanging by the pool with me the next day!) After dinner Mel B and her husband rocked up and so did Britney Spears. Mel B was gassing all about heading to Australia for her new job on Australia’s Got Talent while Britney hid in the corner by the dance floor with newly brunette locks. I then found none other than Scissor Sisters Mr Jake Sheers on the dance-floor and asked him to have a kiki. And we did – have a bloody good kiki.

Wowzers what a night.
