Before we hang up our party frocks for the year, we take a look back at the best bashes of 2013...

1. The 20th Annual Cinema Against AIDs Gala To Benefit amFAR

When: Thursday 24th June

Where: Hotel Du Cap, Cannes

Who: Leonardo DiCaprio, Sharon Stone, Rosie Huntington Whitely, Kylie Minogue

It was like something out of the Great Gatsby, with free flowing Champagne, a jazz band playing and more fabulous people than you could shake several sticks at. Yes, we’re talking the 20th Annual Cinema Against AIDS Gala to Benefit amFAR held at the beautiful Hotel Du Cap on the French Riveria - in at number one on our list. Attended by… wait for it… Kylie Minogue, Rosie Huntington Whitely, Mila Jovavich, Jessica Chastain, Heidi Klum, Ellie Goulding, Liberty Ross and Janet Jackson – to name but a few! After dinner some of the world's top models took to the stage to catwalk in the Ultimate Gold Collection as curated by Carine Roitfeld - all the clothes worn were eventually sold to one lucky (and presumably quite rich bidder) for $1.2million! Whilst Sharon Stone sashayed by with not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE bodyguards – one whose job it was to hold the train of her Roberto Cavalli dress - all eyes were on one man only, Leonardo DiCaprio. God we love him!

2. Harvey Weinstein's post BAFTA Party sponsored by Grey Goose

When: Sunday 10th February

Where: No.5 Hertford Street, Mayfair

Who: Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Harvey Weinstein, Quentin Tarentino, Jennifer Lawrence

Picture the scene, we’d just arrived at Harvey Weinstein’s post BAFTA’s bash at the No.5 Hertford Street when we hear whispers that there are two very special guests partying downstairs. Practically falling down the stairs with excitement we are greeted by none other than Bradley Cooper and Leonardo Dicaprio, surrounded by a group of excitable women. We nearly died ourselves! It wasn’t long before the party truly got going with Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence cutting some serious shapes on the dance floor. Upstairs it was a rather more civilised affair with Juno Temple sipping cocktails and legendary Director Quentin Tartentino holding court over a group of friends. You literally could not make it up.

3. Fran Cutler’s 50th Birthday

When: Tuesday 30th April

Where: The Box

Who: Kate Moss, Jamie Hince, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Jade Jagger, Rhys Ifans,

Kate Moss’ BFF PR guru Fran Cutler celebrated her 50th birthday this year and boy did she celebrate it big. The dress code was ‘lucky bitches,’ and the party was held at London’s notorious Box nightclub. After Rhys Ifans presented Fran with her very own This Is Your Life book – complete with jokes that are far too rude for us to repeat – Primal Scream took to the stage to perform an intimate but enthusiastic set. Kate and co danced wildly all night with Cara Delevingne and Rita Ora rocking up hand in hand to join them in the early hours. It seemed the party got too much for one person though, according to our insiders, Bob Geldof was seen slumped in the corner worn out from all the fun. Someone should have got him a red bull.

4. The Universal BRITS after party

When: Wednesday 20th February

Where: Soho House Pop Up

Who: Taylor Swift, Carey Mulligan, Marcus Mumford, James Cordon

Any party that has Taylor Swift DJing is a pretty good party in our books. At the Universal BRITs after party Taylor spent half of her evening on the decks and half of it twirling around on the dance floor. Whilst Chris O’Dowd got a little bit rowdy when he wasn’t allowed to skip the toilet queue, Carey Mulligan and her husband Marcus Mumford seemed in pretty high spirits. They didn’t even seem to mind when an overzealous bouncer refused to let them join Taylor in the DJ booth. Awks.

5. The DKNY Artworks Launch

When: Wednesday 12th June

Where: Vauxhall

Who: Cara Delevingne, Rita Ora, Iggy Azaelea, Jordan Dunn

Er, how cool was the DKNY Artworks party? Not only did Rita Ora perform, Cara Delevingne only went and got up on stage WITH HER singing ‘How We Do,’ to the crowd. In fact, so into the performance was Cara that at one point Rita struggled to get the microphone back from her BFF. We spoke to Ms.D before her impromtu performance who said of working with DKNY, ‘It's amazing to be asked to be part of it especially being from London, they're such a family as well so it's really really cool.’ Iggy Azalea also performed at the party as guests scoffed down pizza, hot dogs and mini bottles of champagne. Quite frankly, what’s not to like?

6. Kate Moss Playboy Party

When: 2nd of December

Where: The Playboy Club

Who: Tom Jones, Donatella Versace, Kate Moss, Rita Ora, Harry Styles

Monday, 2nd December was a pretty monumental day for Kate Moss. Not only did she bag herself a special recognition award at the British Fashion Awards, natch, Playboy and Marc Jacobs also threw a massive party in her honour. The bash was held to celebrate the fact that Mossy had covered the magazine’s 60th anniversary issue. Insiders say that as soon as Kate was through the door of the club, escorted by Tom Jones (who else?!), she was straight on the dance floor, dancing wildly until she ran out of steam retreating to her VVIP area to sip champers with Sir Philip Green and Donatella Versace. Luckily there were a few youngun’s there to take over the dancing baton with Harry Styles, Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung all apparently taking to the floor together.

7. The BRIT Awards Sony Party

When: Wednesday 20th February

Where: The Arts Club Mayfair

Who: Simon Cowell, One Direction, Justin Timberlake

In terms of after parties the BRITs really out did themselves this year. Before it was announced that he is to become a father, in fact, before Lauren Silverman was even pregnant Simon Cowell was very much loving the bachelor party lifestyle at this year’s Sony BRIT Awards after party. With three women on his own table he looked more than happy to lap up the attention of many a party guest. Joining him were Harry Styles, Naill Horan and the rest of the One Direction boys. The best spot of the night? Mr.Justin Timberlake who rocked up after performing a secret gig in Camden, that’s one buuuusy man!

8. David Bowie Exhibition Launch

When: Wednesday 20th March

Where: The V & A

Who: Tracey Emin, Tilda Swinton, Matt Smith, Rosario Dawson, Pixie Geldof

Never in our lives have we seen a queue as long as the one for the David Bowie exhibition launch, it literally snaked around the entire of the VandA with well over a thousand people vying for the first glance at the retrospective - unsurprising really given that it was the fastest selling event in the gallery’s history. Talk of the evening was Tilda Swinton who starred in Bowie’s The Stars (Are Out Tonight) video, Noel  Gallagher, Matt Smith, Julien Macdonald and Rosario Dawson all attended. The absinth cocktails on offer were an absolute killer, especially considering the event was held on a Wednesday night. The only disappointing part of the evening? Bowie himself never did make an appearance…

9. The Gucci Dinner In Honour of Clara Paget

When: Wednesday 16th of October

Where: Café Royal Hotel

Who: Nick Grimshaw, Clara Paget, Mollie King, Dominic Jones

Following drinks at the brands Old Bond Street store we headed to the Café Royal Hotel for a wonderful dinner held by Gucci in honour of their new muse Clara Paget. Clara naturally looked amazing in Gucci herself and spent the evening chatting with Nick Grimshaw and George Barnett. As we sat down to dinner we got chatting to Mollie King who revealed her excitement about her band mate Frankie Sandford’s then imminent birth, ‘We’re really busy at the moment and Frankie’s about to drop at any moment so we’re on standby, I can’t wait to go and visit her at the hospital.’ One person who already knows what it’s like to be a mother is Peaches Geldof – she dashed off after just one course (London cured smoked salmon, cream cheese, beetroot and apple) to go and look after her two young sons. Aw.

10. Samsung Party Galaxy Note 3 Launch

When: Tuesday 24th September

Where: ME Hotel

Who: Jonathan Ross, Samantha Barks, Vernon Kay, Ellie Goulding, Peaches Geldof

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 launch was the night we became a little bit obsessed with the ME Hotel’s Radio Rooftop bar. With views overlooking Somerset House and some of the comfiest sofa’s we have ever sat on. We’d have quite happily stayed up there forever, had it not been getting towards winter. Ellie Goulding did the honours with a beautiful performance – despite some microphone issues – whilst Peaches Geldof and co headed into the special presentation room to be gifted with the new phone. Later in the evening we spotted Jonathan Ross and Vernon Kay entrenched in a deep conversation about the benefits of their new Samsung Galaxy watches. Boys and their toys eh!
