There is nothing we like more than event that starts at 12 o’clock on a Monday afternoon and involves copious amounts of cocktails. Step forward the Q Awards, an annual booze fest which attracts some of the biggest names in the music industry – presented by the oh-so-funny and oh-so-crude Al Murray.

Over the course of just three hours we spotted Robbie Williams – he arrived late to the event and was spotted slurping a celebratory can of Diet Coke soon after picking up his Idol Award. Ellie Goulding was overheard singing in the toilets and the amazing Pet Shop Boys stayed for the entire lunch winning the Outstanding Contribution To Music  accolade.

Later we spied Eliza Doolittle and Dizzee Rascal who seemed pretty taken by the tropical themed bar, picking up a pineapple filled with Pina Coladas to pose with. However, it seemed they weren’t so keen on the actual drinking as we noticed they quickly put them back again were they found them once they’d finished with their selfies.

Indie boy Jake Bugg remained ever the mono-sylabic charmer, when he went to pick up his Best New Act award his speech went only so far as a ‘cheers’. One of the biggest lols of the day though came from Belle and Sebastian who when winning the Spirit of Independence award joked that it looked like a giant cock ring.  Tee hee.

What we drank: Mahiki and Staritski cocktails

What we ate: Pan fried chicken with potato dauphinoise
