If there was one person we wish could adopt us it would be Jo Wood. The absolutely lovely lady launched her book Hey Jo at Liberty London last night and took some time out to talk to us about how it felt to write.

‘I was quite nervous at first,’ she said, ‘But a friend of mine just said to me ‘Jo you’ve got to do it now before it’s too late,’ I thought to myself THANKS, and then I just started writing.’

Jo described how the process of making the book meant going back through all of her old diaries, ‘I’ve always kept a diary. A low point was in 1981 when I had a diary that just had one entry that said 'woke up'. I took a lot of drugs that year,’ she said, laughing.

It’s this kind of refreshing honesty that you can expect to find in the autobiography which even covers her turbulent marriage to Rolling Stone Ronnie. Speaking candidly Jo revealed that the hardest sections of the book to write were about her former husband’s alcohol problems.

‘The hardest thing was writing about living with an alcoholic,’ she said, ‘I got really chocked up when I was writing about it and how it affected me. I felt I was letting something go when I was writing it. That part was quite cathartic.’ Jo also reveals all about how Ronnie cheated on her and the eventual breakdown of their marriage.

At the launch Jo was joined by her son’s Tyrone and Jamie, daughter Leah and her stepson Jesse as well as Paul O’Grady and Sadie Frost. Jesse has recently become a father welcoming a baby boy with his partner Fearne Cotton just last week. We spotted him looking ever so proud showing pictures of a tiny baby Rex to Leah on his phone.
