It was the kind of night you dream about. Leonardo DiCaprio hanging out with his buddies looking oh so cool to your right, Kylie Minogue snuggling up to Andrés Velencoso to your left and a resplendent Sharon Stone surrounded by five bodyguards straight ahead. Yes we're talking about last night's amazing amfAR party at Cannes’ Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc. And when we say anyone who was anyone was there, we really mean it.
The gold themed evening began with champagne and cocktails on the long drive way leading up to the hotel. Goldie Hawn stood chatting with friends in a beautiful yellow gown, while Victoria’s Secret model after Victoria’s Secret model arrived. Guests were then welcomed in to dinner by a jazz band, where, with table cloths designed by Roberto Cavalli and flowers absolutely everywhere you looked, the setting was as lovely looking as the people in it.
After sitting down to dinner the auction kicked off, which raised a whopping £17million for Aids Research, and during which, one lucky bidder won a trip to space with Leo (yep, we know) for a small price of £1million. Totally worth it we think. Then it was time for Shirley Bassey to perform. Absolutely everyone got up on their chairs to dance, and by the time Duran Duran were on stage it was a totally raucous affair.
We had the lucky opportunity to speak to Milla Jovovich, a spokesmodel for L'Oréal Paris, the official make-up artists of the show. She told Grazia Daily, ‘We have to find a cure for Aids, that's the reason why we do this.’ L'Oréal were official beauty partners for the show with Stéphane Lancien sorting out all of the hair using Elnett Styling and Karim Rahman doing the make-up using the L’Oréal Paris Sunset Collection.
After the auction and dinner we headed to the after party that went on very, very late into the night. Spice Girl Mel B and her husband Stephen Belafonte spent time chatting to the oh so beautiful guests while Ellie Goulding was glued to boyfriend Jeremy Irvine's side all evening. What a night.
