Readers React To This Week's Issue: Let's Put An End To Slut Shaming

16 January 2013 by

It’s official - Taylor and Harry are never ever getting back together and we’ve got the low-down on their suitably drama-filled split. Also in Grazia this week we ask whether married couples deserve tax breaks and bring you our guide to holidaying like a hipster ala Alexa Chung. We are delighted to see that our Twitter feed is already abuzz with your feedback on the issue so please keep it coming guys!

During your downtime there is of course nothing better than putting your troubles aside and settling down to a nice bit of Grazia – The Malteser (@sophlar_) tweeted: “am looking forward to a post-shower Grazia and glittery cupcake, in bed.” Alana Cottier (@AlanaCottier) also chose to indulge in the potent combination of Grazia plus sugar: “Grazia and a bag of mini eggs. Not too shabby a train trip back up north.”  For Jessica (@IdleHypocrates) this week’s issue was something of a light at the end of the tunnel: “Okay if I write an essay I’m going to treat myself to reading Grazia.”

Many of you took to Twitter to voice your support for the #shoutingback campaign against sexual harassment, which was the subject of our most talked about article of the week. Jackie Valentine (@cupidhearts1) tweeted: “@Grazia_Live interesting article today #shoutingback experienced myself only this morning.” Angela Towers (@MissesTea) was also happy to see us delving into the subject: “@EverydaySexism Finally a mainstream women’s magazine acknowledging there is a problem! Amazing work #shoutingback”

Others of you were pleased that Polly Vernon had a go at the nasty business of ‘slut-shaming’ this week.  Lia Kennedy (@Curlia) was one of those who had a few words to say on the matter: “Shocked at the ‘slut shaming’ article in this issue. Who are these women to label another woman a slut? Love Polly’s response” and lou j (@louisechick) was all for shaming slut shamers too: “@Grazia_Live loved Polly’s column this week #IAgree”

This week our resident Bridget Jones, Mike Delwiche discussed the tendency for singletons to stretch the truth on their online dating profiles.  It left Catherine Hughes (@cathuges) feeling regretful: “@mikedelwiche @Grazia_Live I wish I’d embellished a bit now!” and Lindsay (@LindsK23) didn’t see any harm in the practice: “Whole relationships are built on bending the truth & creating a favourable illusion! The magic before the reality kicks in!”

With over thirty pages of fabulous fashion crammed into this week’s issue it’s no wonder that some of you took time to have a quick coveting sesh on Twitter. Alex (@alexclibbens) swooned over the Diesel jacket which took the number one spot in The Fashion Charts: “Ooh I love this. It might have to be my first piece of @Diesel_UK @DIESEL uniform! Thanks @Grazia_Live” and Sarah Kirkness (@sarah_kirkness) was in awe of the gorgeous Nicholas Kirkwood zigzag pumps on p.79: “@Grazia_Live LOVE these Nicholas Kirkwood beauties! Thank you for bringing them into my life! The man is a genius.”

The week is still young and there’s still loads of time for you to have your say at Grazia_Live or on Grazia UK’s Facebook page. See you there!
