Behind The Scenes On Grazia's Wedding Dress Shoot With Bridal Queen Vera Wang

19 June 2012 by

As an eminent bride-to-be, preparing for my Big Day has been a huge part of my life for the last, ooh, 14 months.  But without a doubt, the highlight in the whole process was when I got the chance to meet the one and only Vera Wang for a personal dress fitting at Browns Brides. Cue squeals!

The wedding dress maestro totally understands the pressures of being a bride and makes gowns to make you feel spectacular on your special day whether you're one of her celebrity clients or a bride who has always dreamt of wearing Vera to walk up the aisle (like me). Upon meeting, I was instantly struck by her New York class and her ethereal style - she sure oozes a no-fuss appeal and quickly reassured me that brides are in the best hands when they have her on their side.

Vera was staying in uber luxe hotel Claridges, which is just a stone’s throw away from the Brown's Vera Wang bridal boutique on Davies Street in London. In fact, Vera admitted that she likes to stroll over to the hotel to meet her brides in person and give them an expert helping hand with the gown she envisages them in.

When she was squeezing me into an array of gorgeous gowns, Vera was extremely hands on and clearly dedicated to making me feel fabulous. She talked me through everything from the neckline - 'the smaller the bride, the shorter she will look with a decolletel the older the bride, the less she should reveal' - to fancy pants - 'choose a plain, smooth undergarment with minimal frills and maximum support'.

It’s no wonder that when you say wedding, you think Wang. For more from my meeting with Vera, check out this week's issue of Grazia.
