The Ultimate Red Nail Polish: Sally Hanson Nails It

Sally Hansen Red nail varnish

My hunt is over. It has been a long hunt. Nearly six years to be precise. Ever since  my 25th birthday when I declared to the world that now I was a grown-up lady I would never be without red nails on my fingers and toes, I began the hunt for the very, very most perfect red: durable, multi-tasking, day-to-night, spring-to-summer, summer-to-winter red. For many years I thought it was Revlon Red from Revlon but I always thought it was a poor girl’s relation to the mythical ‘Revlon Rich Girl’s Red’ that I had once read about in one of my favourite books, The Divine Secrets of The Ya Ya Sisterhood, but to this day never actually found. Does it actually exist?

But I digress. Today I have found the PERFECT red. PERFECT. It is called All Fired Up. It is number 550 from the ‘Complete Salon Manicure’ collection from Sally Hansen – a lady who I have long admired, might I add, not only for her general all-American sass, but for her top and base coats too. But guess what? You don’t need a top or base coat with this badboy. Nope, this clever varnish needs just two applications and lasts nearly a week of all types of hazardous nail activity from typing to dancing to riding bikes to washing up and swimming and even steam-rooming. And the colour! Oh the colour… A perfect red be it any season – sprightly enough for spring; sexy enough for summer; alluring for autumn and simply wonderful in winter. It is in fact a base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, colour and top coat in one. Bravo Sally Hansen and bravo Ms Elizabeth Hambleton for alerting me to this new life-partner. Long live the red nail.
