Will Victoria Pendleton add to Team GB's gold medals?
By Sky Sports News Journalists Orla Chennaoui and Lia Hervey
It’s another big day for Team GB today, with medal hopes for rowing, shooting and gymnastics.
And one of the key events we’re waiting for is this afternoon’s appearance of Victoria Pendleton, Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny and Jess Varnish.
One of the Team GB coaches told us last week that they are all looking good and likely to medal. Victoria is known to sometimes be in tears during training because of the efforts she has put in. However he said people misinterpret her tears for weakness. ‘When she’s in tears, that’s when you want to worry. It means she’s up for a fight and she will win.' Don’t overlook her teammate Jess Varnish. She’s not one to mess with either – feminine and sweet but mean on the bike.
Victoria is one of many athletes juggling Olympic training with, er, wedding planning. Along with her friend, open water swimmer, Kerri-Anne Payne, both girls have been arranging their impending nuptials alongside training for the Games.
Victoria does have time at least - she wants to get married while it’s warm, and seeing as most of her friends are kind of busy beating the best in the world this summer, she's putting off her big day until next year. Given that she's planning to bow out of cycling after these Olympics, she'll have plenty of time to get everything perfect.
We’ll be at the Velodrome to watch her race and will bring you more behind-the scenes gossip soon….
