2004: David Bowie gives the crowd a telling off

Kind-hearted Bowie didn't want to disturb the animals in a neighbouring field so asked the crowd not to sing along to his set. When the audience joined in with 'All The Young Dudes' he snapped 'I said "Don't sing!" And what did you do? You broke my heart, it's been such a lovely show up 'til now as well...'

2006: Kate Moss introduces Primal Scream

Kate Moss proved her rock'n'roll creds by taking to the stage to introduce friends Primal Scream in 2006 sporting a gold and black cape. 

2006: Coldplay get the crowd to 'Do The Crouch'

With the festival clashing with the 2006 World Cup, Chris Martin got into the football spirit by getting fans in the crowd to copy Peter Crouch's robot dance move. 

2006: Goldfrapp's dancers

When Goldfrapp performed in 2006, they delighted/terrified us with a gang of dances dressed as creepy mystical monsters (and white horses).

2007: Amy Winehouse hits the stage with the Rolling Stones

Mick and co hit the stage for their first festival since the '70s and were joined by Amy Winehouse for covers of ’The Temptations’ and 'Ain't Too Proud To Beg'.

2010: The Saturdays perform

The Saturdays gave the Isle of Wight a pop makeover in 2010, when they hit the stage in a vibrant wardrobe for a dance-routine packed set.

2010: P!nk shows off her circus skills

Slotting in between Editors and Paul McCartney, P!nk proved she didn't need a guitar to woo the Isle of Wight crowd. Instead the singer flaunted her athletic ability on a trapeze.

2011: Kate Moss's hen party

The supermodel and 30 friends including Sadie Frost and Jade Jagger arrived at the event in three pink hummers before having a wild time.

2013: Boomtown Rats play comeback gig

Bob Geldof described the comeback as 'great f****** fun, the most I've had for 27 years!'.

Wellies at the ready! Isle of Wight festival kicks off TOMORROW - and it's sure to be highlight of this year's festival season.

The likes of Biffy Clyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Kings of Leon are headlining the festival this year with Rudimental, The Pretty Reckless and Ella Eyre also on the line-up. And while the festival is known for its tendancy to become, well, a bit of a mud bath - this year there's BLAZING hot weather on the cards. Woop woop!

Legendary artists including Bob Dylan, The Who and Joni Mitchell have performed graced IoW's stages since it launched as a counter culture event in 1968. making it mecca for rock'n'roll fans. And from Kate Moss's hen party to Amy Winehouse hitting the stage with the Rolling Stones, there's been a whole heap of glam, muddy, wild and awe-inspiring moments in recent years too.
