Is This The Ultimate Festival Hair Trend? Floral Crowns Hit The Grassy Fields

03 May 2013

The sun is shining (finally) and with Coachella fresh in our minds we’ve started to plan our festival wardrobes with much girly excitement. This summer we’ll be ditching our feathers for something a little more whimsical to adorn our heads: say hello to the floral crown.  You may already be familar already, perhaps having worn one as a bridesmaid at an aunt’s wedding as a child – thanks Princess Diana. Seen more recently at another royal wedding, fashion royalty actually, Kate Moss’ nuptials to Jamie Hince saw a brood of nymph like bridesmaids in halos of fresh flora taking the eighties wedding must-have and making it into a chic accessory.

A favourite of Lana Del Ray and Pixie Lott, the floral crown is definitely the hair decoration of choice for headliners and you'll even spot the revellers sporting them too. Spotted on Bella Thorne, Vanessa Hudgens and Lucy Hale at Coachella this month it sizzles boho chic. Alexa Chung wore hers FROW at the Anna Sui show and K Middy looked uh-mazing in hers when she visited Fiji.

We’ll be rocking ours to disguise our ‘three day’ camping hair and to save on that travel size of dry shampoo. Whether you wear yours to a country wedding or to skip through a meadow at Glastonbury, accessorise with loose tumbling waves or a long plait. There are lots of artificial offerings out there, we love rocknrose for their supersized florals. Or, if you’re feeling crafty there are plenty of online tutorials on how to rustle up a fresh diadem of flowers for yourself. Heavy Petal.
