Benicassim Is Just Around The Corner - Here's Seven Reasons Why We Can't Wait...

12 July 2013 by

Glastonbury might be over, but festival season is still in full swing. And with foreign festivals getting bigger and better than ever, it's not surprising we're getting uber excited that Benicassim is just one week away - and there are so many reasons to love it. Here's seven of them to show why hitting up Benicassim's FIB festival could be the best thing you do this summer...

Ok, ok, Glastonbury got lucky. But in the beautiful town of Benicassim near the Spanish coast, the sun don't need luck to shine all day long. Forget your wellies, all you need is a pair of flip-flops and your favourite Raybans. The only thing you'll be covered in is sun-lotion - leave the mud at home. Hell, bring your hammock.

It is literally a stone's throw away - a five minute bus ride on the regular festival buses. And it's BEAUTIFUL. Festival + Beach + Cocktail - you do the math. Plus, if you don't fancy it, there's a waterpark. A WATERPARK.

3. Bands, of course.

With Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys and The Killers headlining this year, it's set to be a sizzler. Other acts include Primal Scream, Bastille, Kaiser Chiefs and Everything Everything. Plus, with live music continuing until 9am, you can literally party all night.

4. It's more than just a festival...

... It's a holiday. The town of Benicassim is where the Spanish flock to for their own holidays, so you can guarantee great food, great drinks and plenty of sangria to go round. And with neighbouring Valencia, one of Spain's most impressive spots, it's not difficult to see why many tailor their summer break around FIB. At Beni, camping is far from compulsory - each village close to the site has regular buses to it, so staying somewhere a little more luxurious is more than do-able. Airbnb, a service that cleverly matches festival/holiday-goers to residents with a place to rent, is affordable and chic. And by staying local digs, you're bound to see more of the place you're visiting.

5. It's cheap.

Early bird prices start at £120 for eight days camping and four nights of amazing music. Can't argue with that.

6. Less packing, more fun.

Bikinis? Check. Flip-flops? Check. Hoodies? Wellies? Socks? NO THANK YOU.
