2013 Cornbury Festival: Izzy Lawrence Gets Stuck In At 'PoshStock'

08 July 2013

This weekend Storm Model and award winning blogger Izzy Lawrence set off for Cornbury Festival in the Cotswolds for a weekend of glamping, vintage hair, QI comedy, new music and Pimms. Also affectionately known as 'PoshStock', Cornbury Festival is the perfect stop for a glass of champagne, gourmet food and a casual chat with the Prime Minister.

When I was a student, I used to work in what was the QI members club in Oxford, it was set up by John Lloyd and John Mitchinson who created QI and Stephen Fry, Phil Jupitus and a host of funny and equally silly people where often members. So when I found out that the QI bunch where supporting their new creative venture Unbound at Cornbury Festival, I thought it was time for a reunion.

As this isn't any old festival. It's known affectionately as PoshStock, I decided the only option was to make sure I had left London heavily loaded with pieces from one of my favourite designers of the moment Cote. Forget the ripped denim shorts and ironic American apparel festival vibe - Cornbury is about country chic. I knew the forecast was hot hot hot so went for a lemon dress in a '60s stylee.

The VIP tent at Cornbury is relaxed with huge sofas and a salon for hair and makeup. You can choose from a 'hair menu' much like at McDonald's but for awesome vintage dos instead of nasty burgers! I had my an Downtown Upton hairdo by Tabitha JK and topped it off with some pink lipstick.

The 'healing' area is also amazing. I am normally dubious of this sort of thing at a festival but as cornbury as a more relaxed country bumpkin kind of festival I thought I should get stuck in. One Indian head massage later and I felt like a new person.

The music is great at Cornbury, fine you may not have heard of all the bands but in a way that's the point! I loved watching King Charles (seriously google him if you haven't heard of him already!), Candy Says, Imelda May, Velvet Stream and of course James Arthur who I not so secretly adore! A particular musical highlight Squeeze doing Cool for Cats - Chris Difford (member of squeeze) once played at my music night Apocalypstick and is fair to say those guys know how to pull a crowd!

All in all, Cornbury gets a big thumbs up from me because, let's face it, you don't want every festival experience to take three weeks to recover from, right? Now it's the day after, I feel genuinely refreshed and you can't argue with that.
