Both denim and Diesel are undergoing a serious #reboot thanks to the vision of newly appointed Artistic Director Nicola Formichetti, who aims to ensure that the label is 'the brand to go to' for a denim fix. The former Thierry Mugler Creative Director has got some seriously forward thinking ideas, kicking off with a Tumblr cast debut campaign, followed swiftly by a phenomenal iPhone shot campaign captured by legendary photographer Nick Knight.
But what is a brand without an ambassador? Diesel has enlisted the help of fast rising model and actress Felicity Gilbert, who has featured in a number of films including this year's release 'Nymphomaniac' about, you guessed it, a nymphomaniac. The freckled beauty has also starred in a number of campaigns including Benetton, Chloe and Pussy Galore, and strutted her stuff on the catwalk for the likes of Emma Cook, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen. How did Formichetti come across her, we wonder? Well, it could be to do with the fact that the Storm model is currently the face of Thierry Mugler's 'Alien' fragrance. That's right folks, the very same brand Diesel's very own Nicola used to be Creative Director for.
The #DieselTribute collection, the first under Formichetti's helm, is a 'homage to the DNA of Diesel' he explains. 'It’s a thank you, almost like a love letter'. Nicola reportedly immersed himself in thousands of pieces from the Diesel archive, emerging with a 45-piece capsule collection of jeans, jackets, vests and shirts - all painstakingly hand-crafted in denim and leather and accessorised with bottle tops and eagle iconography.
