If there's one internet craze we're totally over, it's videos of happy couples getting engaged in 'kooky' ways in a bid to tot up YouTube views. The latest offender is the guy in the video above. Not only has he totally ripped off the whole cinema thing from another (absolutely wonderful) viral proposal, he's also used footage from The Grey, the cheery film which sees Liam Neeson and fellow oil worker chums survive a plane crash into the Alaskan wilderness only to be mauled to death by starving wolves. For whatever reason, the bride-to-be seems dead chuffed with the proposal and agrees to marry our hero. Unfortunately though, in the world of viral videos, this is only the tip of the iceberg. Here's Grazia Daily's five favourite but terrible proposals caught on film...
1. The Woman Who Proposes To Her Boyfriend AFTER ONLY TWO WEEKS OF DATING
This is, without a doubt, the worst thing that's ever happened on the internet. An incredibly ballsy (or totally mental) woman takes advantage of the fact that it's a leap year to propose to the chap she's been seeing for two weeks, at a house party, in front of all of their friends. Her reasoning? She'll have to wait four more years to do it again otherwise. The drunken braying of a bunch of lads doesn't really help the situation.
2. The Man That Proposed In A Food Court
Even if we leave out the fact that this guy's picked the most unromantic setting ever, spinning lines like, "I love the way you curl up next to me on the couch and purr like a little kitten," in public is more than enough to send most girls running for the hills. The fact that his ill-dressed pal pops up with an acoustic guitar to encourage a group singalong of Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline beggars belief. The bride, quite rightly, scarpers.
3. The Man Who Terrfied His Fiance Into Saying Yes
Setting a romantic video to the twinkling tones of the Temper Trap's Sweet Disposition (the song that was once used in a Center Parcs advert) always spells disaster. Also a bad idea; faking plane trouble to trick your girlfriend into accepting your proposal. All-round gent Ryan Thompson took his girlfriend for a flight in a two-man plane before claiming engine trouble and asking her to read out the "emergency procedure". Cannily, Ryan - who seems like a wily bloke - had slipped in a section about "ring engagement" which included the words 'Will You Marry Me?'. How they chuckled when she realised she wasn't going to plummet to her death but was instead going to spend eternity with a man with a twisted sense of humour.
4. The Man Who Uses His Proposal To Die A Valiant Death
We're getting tired of fake out proposals (see Ryan and his totes hilairious plan crash above), this guy goes one step further though. We don't want to ruin the 'surprise' so have a peek below to see how starting an engagement as a dead man with a grieving girlfriend works out for him.
5. The Man Who Gets Rejected In Front Of 10,000 People
Walk it off big guy, walk it off.
