Breaking hangover news - Scientists have discovered a new wonder food that could cure you of feeling hanging the day after the night before.

No, not a fry up and Netflix marathon (one day that WILL be the subject of scientific research, and we will partake in it) - but pears. Yep, pears.

Australian government scientists have found that drinking Asian pear juice before a night out could reduce the effects of a hangover.

The magic fruit increased concentration, reduced memory loss and sensitivity to light. It even managed to decrease the alcohol levels present in the blood.

Eating whole pears could be believed to have the same effect, but it's thought drinking 220 ml pf pear juice before you booze will act upon the key enzymes involved in alcohol metabolism.

Scientists only tested Asian pears (available in most supermarkets), but are now trying other varieties.

But before you start bulk-ordering pears on your next Ocado delivery, Manny Noakes, the lead researcher warns:

"There is no evidence that you can consume pears after drinking and avoid a hangover. And remember, the very best way to not get a hangover is to not drink in the first place.”

Fair point Manny, fair point.
