‘Today You Hate Me, But We’re Going to Brunch:’ Gwyneth Paltrow Opens Up About Life With Chris Martin

Everything about Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s divorce has seemed pretty extraordinary. From announcing their split on Goop, and simultaneously introducing the world to ‘conscious uncoupling’, to the beaming smiles, cosy date nights and happy family holidays of recent months. It seemed like theirs was a picture perfect break-up, absent from anger, heartache or animosity. Too good to be true?

Well, yes, actually. Now GP has admitted that she does find it tough co-parenting their children Apple, 11, and Moses, nine, with Chris, and has been frank about how difficult it can be spending time with her ex.

Speaking at the #BlogHer15 conference in New York last week, Gwyneth explained: ‘It’s been hard, and you know, like, we’ve gone through really difficult times with it but we’ve always said these children are our priority.’

‘What that really means is, “Even though today, you hate me and you never want to see me again, like, we’re going to brunch, cause it’s Sunday and that’s what we’ll do!” You know, like, “That’s what’s happening!”

But after sharing this insight, Gwyneth was quick to gush about Chris.

'I really like him, he's great and a great dad,' she added. Since consciously uncoupling from Chris back in March last year, Gwyneth says it's their shared beliefs that have helped them move forward in an amicable way.

She said: ‘I think, unfortunately, though we couldn’t stay in a romantic relationship, we’re very, our values are very much around the importance of family and the importance of those relationships and I’m lucky that we’re aligned in that way.’
