The International Lipstick Colour of The Year Report encompasses research on 49 different cities from around the world to decipher each of their most popular shades. Here in London, we’re apparently partial painting our pouts with a caramel nude, while our New York neighbours are seemingly known for swathing their mouths in a classic red.
We expected a bold flamingo pink to rule the lips in Las Vegas, but women are said to love a bright coral orange to pair with their dusty desert tans. Over in Paris, laissez-faire lips in shades of dusky rose come up trumps, while fellow Fashion Week city, Milan, is all about a splash of bright fuchsia.
To mark the launch of the report, Heathrow is kicking off a month of lipstick celebrations (our kind of party) with a line-up of five little lippie sculptures. These carvings include London’s Big Ben, Paris’s Eiffel Tower, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Shanghai’s eponymous Tower and, of course, New York’s Statue of Liberty.
Each lipstick comes in the most popular shade of that city, and they’re currently on display at The ‘Statue of Liperty’, a towering two-storey-high replica of the Statue of Liberty made using actual lipstick, which has been unveiled at Terminal 5.
The Statue of Liperty and hand-carved landmark lipsticks will be on display at Terminal 5 until the end of June 2015 as part of the International Lipstick Colours of the Year showcase. After that, we’ll finally be able to get our hands on them – which is the perfect excuse to book up a holiday this weekend, isn’t it?
