REVIEW: Doing The Dirty In Kensington

A Little Slice Of Dirty Heaven

In amongst the swanky wine bars and Made In Chelsea eateries of Kensington, you’ll find a little haven of dirt. Well, not really, but Dirty Bones does serve up a dose of real, honest food in an area that needs it!

On street level, you’ll find a small shack that does good old hot dogs in the daytime. Then, in the evening, venture underground to a world of chicken wings, fries, mac’n’ cheese and thirst-quenching cocktails.

The BFF and I started off with some juicy chicken wings glazed with lemon and chilli, so good that our 10 year friendship almost ended over who got the last one (FYI, I did).

The BFF had The Mac Daddy Burger (yes, that is a burger jam-packed with pulled pork AND mac’n’cheese) with a side of triple-cooked fries. I opted for the Dirty Dog (well, when in Rome!), which was piled high with pulled pork, bacon and jalapeno cheese. As if that wasn’t enough food, I also ordered a side of mac’n’cheese (I see a pork/cheese trend happening here…). Everything was delicious, full of flavour and the portions weren’t tiny!

To help lubricate the amount of calories you will consume, Dirty Bones offers some amazing cocktails, all crafted by the talented bar staff to complement any of the dishes. We went for a few too many, including Deputy Dog (tequila, blood orange liqueur, fresh mint and lime) and You Chicken? (gold rum, fresh mint, cucumber, apple juice and ginger beer).

Most days, Dirty Bones has some kind of offer – like Wednesday’s Fried Chicken Special. Get yourself down there on a Sunday and they’ll do you a Bloody Dirty Hangover, basically a great ton of food washed down with one of their signature Dirty Mary cocktails. Perfect!
