TV's glossy posse descended upon London last night for the annual TV BAFTA Awards to honour the talent that's been gluing us to the (small) screen this year. A veritable feast of telly talent put on their glad rags to celebrate the year's achievements, and boy, were there some treats for us beauty lovers. The updo reigned supreme, with side braids, clever chignons and side-swept styles ruling the roost, alongside bronzed, glowing skin.

This glowing skin was the work of none other than A List skin finishing supremo, Jules Heptonstall, St Tropez's Tanning Expert. Jules's secret for red carpet events is go to for a contoured, bespoke tan, rather than hosing down his clients in a wall of opaque colour that looks flat. Jules gave us a few tips exclusively on how you can get this sculpted look at home, saying "Usually contouring take two days, but by using a quick developing tan like St. Tropez Self Tan Express Advanced Bronzing Mousse (£33.00), you can shorten this to just a few hours."

"Stand in front of the mirror, take the Express Advanced Bronzing Mousse and mitt and slowly apply to the areas you want shading (those on your body that indent a bit). The easiest is to apply an extra coat in between your thigh, then take the buffing mitt or flannel and gently rub around the outer areas where you have applied the extra layer of tan to blend the edges. Do the same to your outer torso."

"Pump the mousse onto a plate and tap a make up sponge on the plate to absorb the product. Gently press the tan on your inner bust and underneath your collarbones, using a clean Real Techniques Sculpting Brush (£9.99) to blend the edges. Do the same under your jaw, underneath your cheekbones and outer brow. Don’t rush the contouring, let the colour naturally build up. Remember, less is more with contouring and it’s all about a natural sculpted look. Keep stopping and looking in the mirror as you go and gently build up the look."

"Leave the product on for the same amount of time you left your base colour on – so if you left your base coat on for 2 hours, leave the contoured coat on for 2 hours. Shower, and then moisturise with an aloe vera rich body moisturiser. If you’re pushed for time do this with a bronzer or an instant tan. Before a big event, highlight your tan with a product that contains iridescent shimmer, applying lashings to your shoulders, collarbones, cheekbones, and the front of your legs to create sheen and definition."

As well as their designer tans, many starlets opted for bold, summery lips in coral hues, or instead tapped into the ever-popular metallic trend, working shimmering lids and statement lashes. Just like Britain, the beauty was diverse and eclectic - be sure to click through the gallery and see who had your favourite look.
