My Big Fringe Debate

I’m not one for a hair shake up (having had the same hair for at least ten years) but I’m feeling strangely tempted by the soft, glossy 70s fringes that seemed to be all over the SS15 and AW15 catwalks. Reasons to go for it include: 1) it covers an aging forehead. 2) It makes you look younger. 3 It makes even the most boring hairstyle look a little more interesting and 4) it can vital body to flat, long hair like my own. Reasons to not do it include: 1) it needs regular trimming ALL THE TIME (I shun the salon in favour of the yoga studio). 2) It might be tricky to navigate a downward dog with a floppy fringe and 3) if I decided to grow it out I’d be looking at another ten years of intensive growing. So will I do it? I’m still on the fence but promise to update you when I finally make my decision…For now check out the last time I had a fringe back in 2002! Stylish times….

#summergirl

Every season has face; a model or girl that inspires us beauty directors as to which way our summer shoots will look and how we’ll illustrate everything from summer hair to summer skin. This summer I’m borderline obsessed with the very beautiful Romee Strijd, a Victoria's Secret girl through and through and now a catwalk regular as well. Winter can keep its edgy brunettes and grungy punk-ettes, because this summer we’re all about California dreaming, beachy hair, sunkissed skin and make-up so light it looks almost invisble. Here’s a few of my favourite Romee moments from SS15. #dreamboat

Pumping Iron

As much as I love my yoga I’m getting ready for bikini season which requires a little extra boost in the workout stakes; on my good friend Dalton Wong’s advice I’m now holding small handheld weights and lifting them up and over my head as I squat to make my morning regime a little more intensive. I’ll also be bringing out my exercise ball to perform one of my favourite tummy and chest toners – I call it the chest open and close (not sure of the offical term) but essentially I lay back over the ball with my legs bent and feet flat on the ground while I open and close my arms 15 to 20 times. You also work your butt without realising it and strenghten your core.
