The Everyman Cinema in Angel was transformed into an Indian/French paradise to celebrate the release of foodie flick The Hundred-Foot Journey. The movie follows an Indian family who move to France and open a restaurant in a small village, but face the opposition of a local Michelin-starred restaurant.

The Cinema Transformed

The film is basically a feast for your eyes, and that’s where Silver Screen Cuisine comes in. The clever people at Celebrity Cruises have partnered up with Great British Chefs and Everyman Cinemas to come up with a movie experience that you can’t help but love!

The Open Bar

For a mere £35, filmgoers are treated to an open bar bursting with expertly crafted bespoke cocktails, including The Mumbai Masala (Ketel One Vodka-based) and Le Rouge et le Noir (made with Ron Zacapa), and canapés on arrival. Wine is then served at your seat during the movie. Did we say seat? Actually, they’re more like HUGE sofas you can sink into.

As if booze and a sofa isn’t enough, halfway though the film, you’re treated to an amazing seven-course tasting menu of dishes prepared by Michelin-starred chefs Pascal Aussignac and Alfred Prasad. The dishes are based on the film (obviously), and include foie gras flan with sea urchin jus, herb-wrapped veal onglet, broccoli kebab with pea and mint purée, and mushroom and potato bonda with ‘Baingan bharta’ ratatouille.

By the end of the night, we were truly immersed in the film – not only did we feel like we were in it, but we pretty much felt like we had been to India and France in one night… And we even have a stamp in our (fake) passports to prove it!
