Rosamund Pike To Play First Female Bond? Ed Miliband Hopes So!

We loved her in Gone Girl (and as dopey plummy Helen in An Education.. ) so we think the idea of Rosamond Pike as the new James Bond could be, well, a little bit genius.

The suggestion has come from Ed Milliband who reckons 007 should be played by a woman. And as policies go it’s a pretty good one- it’s certainly got our backing.

The Labour leader met Rosamund yesterday and she clearly made a big impression on him after he tipped her to make history by becoming the first woman in the role.

Mr Miliband has made gender equality a key part of his campaign and has committed to ensuring his Labour Cabinet team is 50 per cent female. He now wants the makers of James Bond to follow his lead.

‘I think she's a great British actress, she'd make a great Bond,’ he told Magic Radio. ‘This is 2015, I think we can move with the times.’ Hallelujah.

Ms Pike is no stranger to the film franchise, a former Bond girl she played the role of Miranda Frost, who died in the 2002 film Die Another Day.

Rosamund scooped best actress for her portrayal of Amy Dunne on home turf at The Empire Awards on Sunday and fumed that she was gutted to miss the ceremony the 'one time I win.’

After receiving best actress nominations at the Oscars and Golden Globes as well as countless others, Rosamund often lost out to Julianne Moore for her role in Still Alice. ‘I cannot believe that the one time I can't attend an award ceremony is the one time I win,' the 36-year-old told the awards via video link. ‘I've become so accomplished at losing I have no idea what to say now I've won.’

Giving her the coveted job of Bond would see her #winning, that's for sure…
