EXCLUSIVE: Sibling Reveal The Inspiration Behind Their Autumn Winter 2015 Collection

Sibling is where the granny meets the girl, the design trio have quite the knack for making the hobby of knitting loved by grandmas seem good damn cool. Take today's show for example where knitted two piece suits were shown alongside punk style hair and flashes of neon and PVC, all shown to the sound of Blondie's 'Call Me' blaring out. Ahead of showing their Autumn Winter 2015 we caught up with the designers behind the brand to talk about their collaboration with Woolmark and who they would love to knit an Oscars gown for.

Here are six questions with Sibling...

1. Talk us through your inspirations for your latest collection?

Verner Panton, Francis Bacon, Sunday Girl, Karl Stoecker, Max Natkiel, knit, knit and yet more knitting. Oh and a LOT of hand sequining, beading and crochet.

2. How has working with Woolmark affected your work?

It hasn’t really as SIBLING have been often un-sung abassadors for Woolmark since launching in 2008 as our main garment is the very humble sweater elevated to a luxury product. You can only get this through using great quality yarns and with Woolmark and their affiliated mills such as Barrufa, Todds Handknit and Hinchcliffe to name just 3 you get the best lambswools and merinos possible so hand-feel is incredible.

3. Why as a brand is it important for you to work with wool and Woolmark?

It’s the association, Woolmark have a great heritage and everyone understands that having their logo around your product either on a swing tag or a label says quality.

4. Whats the one thing in the whole world you wish was actually knitted (not including any fashion items)?

Not my brow which at the moment is just thinking about this question.

5. It's the Oscars tomorrow- if you could knit anyone an outfit for the Oscars who would it be?

Oscar himself. A gold lurex onesie with Swarovski crystals.

6. Who would you most like to teach how to knit?

Can we sign the old Coke A Cola song here: We’d like to teach the World to knit…..
