Apart from for American expats in Blighty, the Super Bowl might not be such a big deal here in the UK as it is Stateside, but we appreciate a good beauty look when we see one. At half time last night, Katy Perry took to the er, field, to deliver twelve and a half minutes of her best hits, complete with appearances from Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz, and four super-speedy costume changes. What we can't stop talking about, however, is her incredible beauty look.

This Grazia Daily writer may or may not have stayed up half the night to watch the game (hey, girls like sports too), but long-standing team allegiances aside, we can all agree Katy's look was seriously on point. One shiny, glossy ponytail, an immaculate red lip and a punky new nose piercing straddled the divide between sporty and pretty perfectly.

While Katy's ponytail may have been a largely practical move (it's much easier for loose hair to get all wrapped up during quick changes), we think it was a totally apt choice for the sporting event. With a nod to athleticism, Katy kept it pretty with the deep curl running through the ponytail and the incredible amount of shine to her mane. Her red lip was the real makeup statement - her complexion was fresh and natural-looking, while her eyes featured a lot of lashes and liner, but no crazy colour scheme. Just as well - if she did plump for colour, she could be accused of favouring one team over the other, we guess, if it too closely mimicked their kit.

While the New England Patriots might have taken the trophy home, we have to give props to Katy too for such a cute, fun look for her performance. Perhaps we're about to see a resurgance of the ponytail? Katy also won major beauty points for her Super Bowl-themed pedi - Katy, we salute your commitment to the look. We do not want to be competing against you at a fancy dress party.
