There’s no doubt Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff have a claim to be New York's coolest couple, now he's gone up in our estimation even further by declaring his love for the Girls star.

Talking about how she's inspired his debut album singer Jack, best known as the guitarist from Fun, admitted: 'We've been together for over two years, which for me is a long time, and I still want to know everything about her. That's what falling in love is. You're wrapped up in a mystery novel, lost in an exciting world.’ Aw!

Jack, 30, credits Lena, 28, with helping him through a terrible time after his 13-year-old sister died from cancer and he lost his cousin in the Iraq war: ‘I developed OCD and panic disorder, the album is about about trying to work out how to move on from loss without becoming emotionally complicated,’ he said. ‘In the end I realised I didn’t need to forget the past.

‘Instead I had to have faith in someone else, which is what happened when I fell in love.' 'When I get home from the studio Lena's the first person to hear anything and I can tell if something's good or not by her reaction,’ Jack says.

Jack also admits that the pair have a working relationship and test one another’s material on each other at home before dishing out honest criticism.

‘She’s just a music fan not a musician. I’m just a film fan not a film-maker, but our opinions are more important than some producer’s opinion because they mirror how the world is going to see or hear it,’ he said.

‘We both work so much, chip away at things for so long, that it’s not like we get over-sensitive. We're not 19. We can take criticism. I love criticism from her.' He added: 'We can bounce ideas around and aesthetically I think she’s brilliant.’

These two seem like the most perfect couple ever - but earlier this year the outspoken star of the smash-hit TV series confessed their romance almost never got off the ground after she was 40 minutes late for their first meeting, a blind date organised by mutual friends. 'I was like 40 minutes late and now we live together,’ Lena admits.

We’re glad Jack hung around, sounds like Lena was more than worth the wait.
