In case you hadn’t noticed already, last night the 2015 Brit Awards (sponsored by Raymond Weil) celebrated the best of the music industry in a lavish ceremony set to capture the audience’s attention. However the night didn’t exactly run as smoothly as planned. Because for every award winner came an equally cringe-worthy moment, which made for some pretty nail-biting viewing.

Without further ado, read on for the winners of the most awkward moments of the night...

Madonna: winner of biggest OUCH! moment

We’ll start with the most shocking moment of the night: when poor Madge was painfully pulled from stage during her performance of her new single ‘Living For Love’. The Queen of Pop returned to the Brits following a 20-year hiatus only to fall backwards down THREE massive steps. Ouch. However, like the trouper she is, the 56-year-old impressively got back up again to sing the lyrics ‘watch me stumble’ and ‘I’m going to carry on’. Double awks. Gutting for her, the fall has already taken the Internet by storm and the repeated footage had gone viral within minutes…

Jimmy Carr: winner of most awkward joke

Before presenting ‘British Video of the Year’ award with Karlie Kloss, in what can only be described as the world's most ill-paired casting EVER, Jimmy Carr made a joke about Madonna’s age and all the drugs in her dressing room. He said he found "a lot of drugs" and then added not to worry because "it's all HRT stuff". Oh wow. Needless to say this went down like a lead balloon and Karlie Kloss looked like she couldn’t get off the stage any quicker.

Ellie Goulding & Lewis Hamilton: winners of most cringe presenters

There were some VERY odd pairings at the awards last night, but these two caused a major cringe moment when Lewis asked Ellie about her choice of attire, asking: ‘‘Are you going to a wedding or something?’ to which Ellie replied: “Er, excuse me! Yes, ours!”. Ellie tried to ease the awkwardness by saying, “That was a good one” to which Lewis replied: “No”. It went silent in the O2 arena for a very long 5 seconds.

**Taylor Swift: winner of best friend ever

**

Swiftly moving on, Taylor won the International Female Solo Artist award, presented by her good friend Ellie. The singer paid tribute to her closest Brit pals including Cara Delevingne and confessed her love for Ed Sheeran, to which his face beamed adorably. Although Ed’s girlfriend didn't look overly impressed...oops.

Kim Kardashian: winner of most awkward selfie fail

She is the queen of selfies, she even produced a book about the art of taking the perfect selfie, so how did ol' Kimmy manage to fail to take a selfie with Ant and Dec? Umm, she forgot to unlock her phone. #fail

Taylor Swift: winner of best dance moves

TayTay certainly did ‘Shake it off’ during Kanye's performance, throwing her head and hips around in true Swifty stylee. An awards ceremony wouldn’t be the same without her.

    **

Ever the oddball, Cara was given the responsibility of presenting the award for ‘International Male Solo’ prize. However, before presenting, she kindly congratulated the show’s hosts and said she would “love to be the meat” in an Ant and Dec sandwich and her dream came true by the end of the night. Yummy!
