Gillian Flynn Hints At Gone Girl Sequel!

Gone-Girl

Our fragile nerves have only just recovered from the first instalment, but it looks like there could already be a Gone Girl sequel on the way.

Gillian Flynn, who wrote the original book and screenplay, told New York Daily News: ‘There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together. It could be really fun a few years from now to pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on – not well I don’t think.’

She added, ‘I would have to have the exact same people to do it – I would want Rosamund {Pike}, Ben {Affleck} and {Director David} Fincher to do it.’

But what would happen in part two? Here are our predictions…

Amy becomes president

You know how in The Omen trilogy devil child Damian eventually uses his powers of evil to become US Ambassador? We’d like to see Amy go a few steps further and plot her way to presidency. Seriously, with her shark-eyed determination, attention to detail and willingness to slaughter her enemies she could have the US up and running as a dictatorship in no time.

It turns out the first film was a hoax

In a dramatic twist, the events of the first film turn out to be an elaborate hoax executed by Amy and Nick. They didn’t actually hate each other, they just wanted to gain a reputation as the world’s most dysfunctional couple so that they’d be featured on Judge Judy. Bet you didn’t see that one coming!

Nick gets custody of their child and Amy ends up in jail

Here’s the thing we didn’t get about the original – Nick was ready to expose Amy until she announced that she was pregnant, and threatened to turn their child against him if he revealed the truth about her. But surely if everyone knew what a murderous psychopath she was, she’d have gone to prison and Nick would have got custody. Or are we missing something?

We actually see Ben Affleck naked

Remember all the hoo-ha about seeing mini-Ben in the first film? That full frontal shower scene we were promised never quite materialised (unless we blinked and missed it). In the sequel we demand full on, proper nudity from Ben Affleck. It’s integral to the plot. Whatever the plot ends up being.

They continue to torment each other until one or both of them dies

This is probably what will happen.
