Are Rihanna & Florence Recording The Ultimate Duet? Here Our Favourite Collabs They’ll Need To Top

Is the world be about to witness a collaboration between two of the coolest women in pop? A new Rihanna song has been registered online which credits Florence + The Machine's Florence Welch as a writer.

The song, titled 'A Night', lists Robyn R. Fenty (Rihanna) as the first writer, alongside Christian Keyon Jr. Boggs, Florence Leontine Mary Welch and Paul Richard Epworth, as seen in this screenshot posted by* Popjustice*.

Fans are speculating that Welch's involvement will just be a sample of'Only If For A Night', a track from her 2012 album* Ceremonials*, but we’re hoping that the two ladies have both recorded vocals (we’re actually hoping that they battled it out on the mic karaoke style but we’ll settle for a duet){ =nofollow}.

Rihanna has yet to announce the release of her upcoming eighth studio album, which will serve as the follow-up 2012's* Unapologetic*, whilst Florence + the Machine have confirmed a number of festival appearances for 2015 and are expected to release their third LP later this year.

While we try to imagine the glorious-ness that is a combination of RiRi and Florence, take a look at some of our favourite musical collaborations, from classic golden oldies to all-female newbies…

1. Aerosmith and Run DMC

One of the orginal cross-genre mash-ups, this remix of Aerosmith's 'Walk This Way' almost didn't happen! Run D.M.C refused to rap the band's orginal lyrics, calling them "hillbilly gibberish". Luckily Steven Tyler and Joe Perry came to the studio and convinced the group changed their mind.

2. Eminem and Dido

Eminem’s hit sampled Dido's ‘Thank You’ and launched her on a global scale. Her 1999 debut albu_m, No Angel_, went on to sell over 21 million copies worldwide and in 2011 she named her son Stanley after the track. Cute!

3. Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman

Robbie Williams and the former Mrs Tom Cruise may not have been the most likely of collaborators and the outcome may not have actually been that good but we’re keeping it on here anyway because, come on! It’s Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman!

4. Jay-Z & Linkin Park

Remember when this song made you believe you were a hard-core rocker? 'Numb/Encore' was taken from Jay Z and Linkin Park’s six-track EP, Collision Course and won Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the Grammy Awards of 2006. Fun fact: it features background vocals from Kanye West, who also produced the song.

5. B.o.B & Hayley Williams

B.o.B and Hayley Williams scored a world-wide hit without even meeting. The duo recorded ‘Airplanes’, and the accompanying music video, without crossing paths, before eventually meeting face to face while rehearsing for their MTV VMA performance of the song. At least they didn’t wait until they got on stage!

6. Florence Welch and Dizzee Rascal

Florence + the Machine and Dizzee Rascal brought the 2010 BRIT Awards to a standstill with their brilliant mash up of ‘You Got The Love’ and ‘Dirtee Cash’.

7. Beyonce and Nicki Minaj

Fans went into meltdown when Nicki Minaj hopped on the remix to Beyonce’s feminist anthem, Flawless, originally from her self-titled visual album. The best part? When Beyonce addresses sister Solange and husband Jay Z’s lift scuffle with the line: “Of course sometimes sh*t goes down when there’s a billion dollars on the elevator.”

Everyone's favourite, Bruno Mars, teamed up with the UK’s own Mark Ronson on this insanely catchy, 80s-inspired funk song. The track became so popular after Fleur East performed it on the X Factor that they had to bring forward its release date by over a month.

9. Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande

When Jessie J relocated to the US she made some superstar new friends in the form of Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande. The female trio’s up-tempo anthem from Jessie’s third album, Sweet Talker, debuted at number one in the UK and is nominated for the best pop duo/group performance at this year’s Grammy Awards.

10. Kanye West and Paul McCartney

Kanye went all soppy on us when he released this ode to his late mother, Donda West, and 1-year-old daughter, North West, on New Year's Eve. Paul McCartney helped out on the keyboards and according to R&B singer Ty Dolla $ign, who provided backing vocals, the trio have recorded another track featuring Rihanna and "it's crazy."
