It's official: the only hair trend hotter than the ‘lob’ (long bob) is fresh-out-the-shower - which is good news for those of us who can't brave the chop but still want to be ahead of curve. The trend first took hold backstage at the Spring/Summer '15 shows, where models at Lanvin, Alexander Wang and Marni (to name but a few) rocked seriously slicked-back 'dos.

Before long the look popped up again in the post-apocalyptic, and seriously hot, Balmain campaign, where Adriana Lima and Joan Smalls worked glossy, saturated scalps and lengths. And so started the trickle-down onto the red carpet, thanks to stars like Rita Ora and Megan Fox.

We are however, under no illusion that the wet-look trend falls somewhere quite high up on the intimidating scale – after all, the line between super chic and actually, just sopping (or worse, greasy) is a fine one. Those keen to give it a go should consider their natural hair type and go from there - if you've got longer lengths that don't frizz, try poker straight ends and use a product like Redken Water Wax 03 Shine Defining Pomade, £8.80 in the roots to achieve that glamorous, glistening effect.

Gals with shorter styles meanwhile, should take a lighter touch with the product, adding plenty of root volume to avoid the hair looking flat. Alternatively saturate the hair with a spray like ghd's Shine Spray, £9.95 to add gloss and hold.
