When designer resell site Vestiaire Collective challenged us to navigate my fashion week wardrobe with only pre-owned clothes, I was slightly sceptical – everybody knows the biannual fashion circus is all about sporting the newest wares on the block. However, like a good Graziella I’m always game for a fashion dare, so I set about putting together five days of looks from past season pieces which were being resold on the site.

Whether you’ve got money to burn or not (if only), everyone loves a bargain, and the savviest of shoppers have long been relying on sites like Vestiaire and resell stores to supplement their closets. The reality is that for most of us, buying a new designer wardrobe every season is just not possible – unless we want to lose the roof over our heads that is. But if you like great quality and don’t want to see every other girl at the party wearing your frock, these sites offer a great option.

The week started with a spotty Celine dress and clashing Marni clutch – two brands which would normally bankrupt my monthly budget. Mixing the pieces in with my own wardrobe and a few new buy meant that I could stretch my eight day wardrobe (with outfits for both the daytime and evening) that much further. I loved wearing the long Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2014 skirt and the silky Phillip Lim bomber jacket – a classic which will never date, making it the perfect resale buy. All in the all the experience was positive – all the pieces arrived feeling like new (a few stitches loose here and there, but nothing to write home about) and my new season retail urges were almost completely sated.
