When you are a breakout teen star there is no better BFF to have on speed dial than Taylor Swift. Joining the likes of Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lawrence, Lorde is certainly part of a somewhat exclusive club and made her membership official by undertaking a shopping trip with Tay Tay on Sunday. For her trip down the shops, Lorde was working a slightly different look than usual, one not too dissimilar to something you would expect the ultra-feminine, vintage loving, red lipstick wearing Taylor to wear. And this comes just a day after they were spotted frolicking on the beach wearing matchy-matchy outfits.

We can only assume that Lorde is in phase one of THE TAYLOR OVER (yes people, that is a thing). Lorde isn’t Swifty’s first fashion project of course - Hailee Steinfeld has undertaken the Taylor in the past. For those of you who don’t have access to Taylor Swift’s sartorial skills, do not fear as we bring you four steps to getting the singer’s signature style…

1. Give Your Pussybow The Full Skirt Treatment

Swift Skirts (from left): White blouse, £45, Topshop; Floral skirt, £65, Tara Starlet; Floral shirt, £18, Topshop; Pink skirt, £115, Coast

Tay Tay is all about the vintage and perhaps the local librarian in Nashville is one of her most coveted style idols. If you can’t bring yourself to shift through the rails at the local charity shop then opt for a vintage inspired floral number from Tara Starlet and tie it all together with a pussy bow blouse!

 2. Promote Your Look To The Varsity League

Jock It (from left): Shoes, £50, Taylor Swift for Keds; Pink jacket, £295, Whistles; Black jacket, £37.95, Forever 21

Teen spirit runs through Taylor Swift veins and if you want the look the first thing you need is a varsity jacket! Look no further than Whistles for a slight investment purchase and finish the look off with a pair of Keds designed by the woman herself!

3. Master Monochrome

Swift Stripe (from left): Short sleeve dress, £70, Topshop; Mesh insert heel, £495, Gianvito Rossi; Yellow shoe, £70, Aldo; Sleeveless dress, £150, Coast; Black heel, £60, Office

Taylor takes her vintage inspired daywear into the evening and with a slight injection of sex appeal loves to opt for an updated bygone style. Her boldest looks are of the monochrome variety and in true Swift style give the look some kick with a vibrant colour pop.

4. Be Stage Ready

Redden Your Wares (from left): Brogues, £45, ASOS; Hat, £28, Topshop; Lipstick, £6.99, Max Factor; Shirt, £14.99, New Look; Shorts, £25, River Island

One of the things Taylor taught her mini me Hailee Steinfeld was that if in doubt add a hat! The black hat has become one of the corner stones of the Taylor wardrobe and the singer always has one on tour. The rest of the look is all about a high waisted short and of course, a bold red lip.
