Today it has been announced by Kering that Gucci's power couple Fridi Giannini and Patrizio di Marco are leaving Gucci at the beginning of next year.

Creative director Frida will show her last collection, Fall Winter 2015, in Milan at the end of February. A new creative director will then be appointed "later on."

Gucci's chief executive officer and Frida's real-life partner Di Marco will step down on the 1st of January. Marco Biazzari has been named as his successor.

The chairman and CEO of Kering said to WWD: "There is no change in terms of strategic approach for Gucci. We will continue to pursue the implementation of the brand elevation strategy. Marco's expertise, but also his knowledge of the Kering group, makes him the perfect choice to build on Gucci's extraordinary legacy to lead the brand to a new momentum."

Frida joined Gucci in 2002 as the design director of handbags, and then following Tom Ford's departure in 2004 she became creative director of accessories in 2004 and creative director of womenswear in 2005.

In her 8 years at the helm at Gucci, Frida brought high profile campaigns with Blake Lively and James Franco. She also opened the doors at the house in a film directed by Franco.

She is also to be celebrated for her work off the catwalk. She introduced Chime For Change, a global campaign for female empowerment working with the likes of Beyonce, Salma Hayak and Blake Lively.
