This season the recipe for a winning ad campaign is a dose of Fanning. Miu Miu tapped Elle Fanning for their Spring Summer 2014 campaign, while Dakota Fanning has teamed up with the floppy haired Brit, Tom Odell, for their Spring campaign. Dakota is transformed into a Uniqlo prep wearing double denim, with black loafers and a jumper tied around her shoulders. Odell is her perfect other half, in an indigo checked shirt, rolled up jeans and a dark blazer. We love.
We didn't think any sisters could be cooler than the Olsens. Then came the Fannings. Take a look at why they are fashion gold below...
1. They are FROW darlings
These are the girls to have on your front row. Dakota made her fashion week debut when she was just 15 at Miu Miu. Since then the two have been seen at Topshop, Rodarte, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu (to name a few). Fashion's steely gate-keeper Anna Wintour shook hands with Elle and Alexa Chung approached her at fashion week to ask her for a photograph.
2. You'll spy them in your glossies in the major ad campaigns
These guys can keep up with Cara and Kate with it comes to werking it for the camera. Elle Fanning in floral Miu Miu is winning the Spring Summer 2014 campaign race...
3. When we were swapping Pokemon cards, these two were inspiring Marc Jacobs
The Fannings were Marc muses wayyy before Miley. Dakota posed for Marc Jacobs back in 2007 when she was just 12. She has said of the campaign: 'I was 12. I was always into fashion because my mom has always been interested in fashion. She majored in fashion merchandising in college, and it's always been something we have in common. When I did that first campaign for Marc Jacobs, I really wasn't old enough to wear the clothes. He made all the clothes from the runway in my size. I still have them.'
4. We mean it, they are fashion child geniuses
These sisters are fashion’s equivalent of a child genius that does a maths degree in their spare time between Brownies and horse riding. Elle inspired Rodarte when she was just 12 and was in an editorial shoot by Bill Owens for the Rodarte spring '12 couture collection magazine.
5. Next season now? They are ten steps ahead of the rest...
Elle was the first starlet to wear the fashion forward judo flat-forms from Prada’s spring/summer ‘13 collection to the Breaking Dawn premiere. When the rest wear frothy gowns, they'll break the rules printed Miu Miu suits. Conform they do not.
6. OshKosh B'Gosh? Nah these kids grew up in Prada.
Their wardrobes could take on Kate Moss's. They are even in awe of each other's style as Dakota said about Elle: ‘She’s very uninhibited and will try pretty much anything. Even the way she dresses— she dresses totally for herself. She risks being made fun of… by me, which I sometimes do, because I’m an older sister! But I totally admire her and think she’s very cool.’
7. Forget about school dances, a red carpet is an average night out...
They have been standing in front of the flashbulbs on the red carpet since they were six. The Met Ball, world premieres and fancy galas are just an average night out for these two.
8. In conclusion: They are the definition of sassy
Never change guys.
