VIDEO: Alexa Chung Talks Feminism And The ‘Chanel Revolution’

A female revolution hit Paris Fashion Week this morning with Cara Delevingne leading a model army through the Grand Palais. No, she wasn't staging a 'free the nipple' riot - this was a revolution of the Chanel variety.

Following on from last season's supermarket sweep, Karl Lagerfeld put on yet another extravaganza for the French fashion house'sSpring Summer 2015 show.This time, it was all about being a strong, confident woman wearing 'clothes for life' - but this is the chicest kind of street style. We're talking high-waisted, pin- striped city shorts worn with cropped jackets and peplum dresses embellished with jewels.

The collection was set against the backdrop of an entire Parisian street, complete with pavements and scaffolding, which Karl named Boulevard Chanel (naturallement). Brit beauties including Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevingne and Laura Bailey pulled on their finest tweed to sit on the front row and it was there that we nabbed a quick chat with Alexa after the show.

'It's going to take a minute to digest because it was so frenetic and frantic and there were so many looks,' she gushed. Alexa looked suitably Parisian in a white blouse with an oversized bow at the neck teamed with a school girl grey mini-skirt and flats with her hair as artfully dishevelled as ever.

Grazia Daily, meanwhile,* *has been wearing a snazzy pair of Google Glassesthis season and they've garnered more than a few admirers from Suki Waterhouse toJamie Campbell Bower. Alexa's not convinced by wearable tech, however. 'It's quite scary because now I'm wondering what's going to happen (next),' she said. 'They don't look like normal glasses - no offence, they're beautiful, but they are phenomenally dorky.' Over to you Karl to design some suitably Chanelegant creations.

So what Chanel pieces are on the Chung wishlist? 'I loved the pinstripe that was happening, the gold tights and shoes, all of the accessories were perfect.' She's not wrong.

On the model front, it was a delight to see Gisele Bunchen back where she belongs. As the current face of Chanel Beauty (not to mention the highest paid model in the world), the 34-year-old Brazilian blew her fellow catwalkers out of the water with her trademark prowl. 'It's interesting to see that in the flesh,' Alexa agreed. 'It's like watching an animal in their natural habitat. She kind of catwalked down like an actual big cat.'

Aside from Gisele and Cara, there was another model that got the FROW's iPhones flashing: Kendall Jenner. We wanted Alexa's verdict on the model-of-the-moment. 'She's beautiful and looks like a model so it's weird that she's also a hugely famous television star from a mega family. She in her own right would be a supermodel anyway so it's pretty cool.'

But it was the finale that really had the fash pack gasping, including Alexa. '[It] was amazing because it encapsulated all the different protests - the climate change march, the He for She campaign… I love that revolutionary spirit which seems to be trickling into our consciousness.' As for whether the style devotee is a feminist, Alexa told us, 'It's a no brainer than every woman is a feminist and men should be too.' Amen to that.
