Dakota Fanning Style - Best Dresses & Outfits

Dakota Fanning is never far from our screens or our style radar these days. Starting her career at the tender age of seven, the actress has had more years in the lime-light than we have had Pret A Manger lunches. We've seen her transform from the cutie tween who won our hearts in War Of The Worlds to a Hollywood heavyweight who graces red carpets around the world wearing top-notch designers from Valentino to Marchesa and Marc Jacobs.

Back in 2011, it was clear that Dakota had an extreme fondess for nude baby doll dresses. We noticed a pattern to the actress’ red carpet wardrobe that involved cute, Tinkerbell-esque frocks worn with her straight blonde hair in a centre parting. A constant supply was supplied by the likes of Elie Saab, but with a young, hipster sister hot on her (high) heels, it was time for Dakota to leave Rutsville behind.

Dakota has since become a front row regular, rocking up at New York Fashion Week shows with a more mature style and arrived at the 2013 CFDA Awards with none other than Michelle Obama's favourite designer, Jason Wu.

She’s often seen as a double act with her (arguably more stylish) little sister Elle Fanning and we’re pleased to hear that they have the same sisterly spats as the rest of us. Dakota has opened up about how proud she is of Fanning Junior and her head-turning fashion choices. ‘She’s very uninhibited and will try pretty much anything,' she said. 'Even the way she dresses— she dresses totally for herself'. And it seems they've been sharing fashion tips as the siblings were spotted in South Korea wearing matching kitten ear hats. Totes adorbs!

Dakota is no stranger to stirring up a frenzy. Remember when she was the face of Marc Jacob’s perfume Oh Lola? The position in which the star was posed was deemed too suggestive for a 17 year old girl. The ad was quickly scraped. At least Dakota and good friend Mr Jacobs were able to laugh the whole thing off afterwards.
