Charlize Theron started out as a model when she won a modelling contract in a competition in Salerno, and then spent a year modelling throughout Europe. Ms Theron has won an Oscar and a
Golden Globe and starred in blockbuster films such as Mighty Joe Young and Snow White & The Huntsman and Prometheus. But when it comes to fashion there are just two words that spring to mind: Christian Dior.
Who could forget Charlize stomping through an apartment in a gold couture gown stripping off her necklace, fascinator, bangles and then finally the frock for her J'adore Dior ad. She says one of the most memorable campaign scripts to the camera: 'Gold is cold, Diamonds are dead, A limousine is a car, Don't pretend... Feel what's real. J'adore Dior.'It is one of the sexiest campaigns, well, ever and the beauty looks like she has been literally dipped in gold.
Charlize joined the Dior family in 2004 when she signed a deal with John Galliano who was the then head designer at Dior. In one of her ads for the fragrance, Charlize is joined by Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich thanks to the wonders of CGI. Charlize stomps down the Dior catwalk in the Versailles' Hall of Mirrors in a gold gown (obvs).
As the face of Dior, Charlize gets access to the CD couture archives so always looks flawless on the red carpet. Our fave Theron looks? The sheer black floor-sweeper she wore to the Snow White and the Hunstman premiere, which had layers and layers of chiffon with a pair of hotpants underneath. Oo la la! It's not all about gold gowns ,as Charlize also knows how to rock a little red dress, and we heart the red hot leather Dior mini she wore to the premiere of 'Young Adult.'
The red carpet at the Oscars is this Dior darling's domain. She went old Hollywood glam when she picked up her Oscar for Monster in a gold sequined, backless Tom Ford for Gucci showstopper. She wore an icy ruffled dress in 2005, a fashion forward green pleated gown with a dramatic bow on the shoulder in 2006 and a strapless white column frock to the 2013 ceremony. All by Christian Dior, bien sur.
Charlize is dressed by one of Hollywood's most influential women, Leslie Framar. The power stylist revealed exclusively to Grazia that it was a 'challenge' to dress Charlize with her newly cropped hair (she shaved off her blonde locks for a roll in Mad Max: Fury Road). 'We wanted to make sure it stayed with a more modern feel. Charlize is really adventurous - she really gets into the overall process,' Lesie told Grazia.
