Carey’s blossomed from a relative unknown to ‘the new Audrey Hepburn' of Hollywood, which is partly thanks to the power of the Prada dress. Carey Mulligan is Miuccia's muse as she has a Prada and Miu Miu red carpet uniform and she also wore a Prada dress at her wedding to Marcus Mumford, in front of 200 guests in a converted barn in Somerset. Adele sang, Colin Firth gave a speech and mega photographer Rankin was on hand to take pictures of the Big Day too. The perfect wedding, eh?
Carey skipped university after landing her first role at Kitty Bennett in Pride and Prejudice after no formal training and there’s been no stopping her since. She was nominated for an Oscar in 2010 for her role in An Education and wore a Prada gown covered in forks and spoons to walk the red carpet. Yep, she makes her own style rules.
Carey has worn many a Prada dress, as well as Lanvin, Roksanda and Roland Mouret, and sticks to pretty embellishment and feminine silhouettes. Our all time favourite Carey red carpet look HAS to be the metallic dress she wore to the 2012 Met Ball - it still makes us swoon. The Prada frock was sold on eBay for Oxfam and after a week of bidding went for a reasonable £1,860. We'd have thought a piece of red carpet history would have gone for a lot more pennies than that.
Carey is going to be the girl of 2013 as she is playing Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby. The costumes for the film were designed by, you guessed it, Miuccia Prada and they were all inspired by the Prada Fall 2011 collection. Grazia Daily brought you a first look of the sketches, which feature lots of feathers, beading and fur collars. We can't wait!
Flick though her style evolution in the gallery above and prepare to have some serious Prada envy. Oh and she might make you consider a pixie crop - at least for the next ten minutes of clicking.
